A group under the aegis of Civil Society Coalition for Transparency (CSCT) has called on the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to promptly intervene and rescue the Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from anti-democratic forces before it becomes too late.
The President of CSCT, Honourable Mike Femi, made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in the state on Wednesday, August 14.
Femi expressed concern over the party’s current situation in Enugu State and pointed out anti-party activities allegedly conducted by some party chieftains.
He also warned that if Ganduje, the national chairman did not come over to Enugu State APC, things would get out of hand, which could negatively affect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

On July 27, 2024, a group within the Enugu APC reportedly suspended Hon. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, the state chairman, and three other key officials under dubious circumstances, including allegations against them and a disjointed announcement made in a hotel.
The following day, the same faction appointed Alphonsus Nwafor as the Acting State Chairman, despite lacking formal authority or support from the broader party structure.
The faction’s attempt to seek intervention from National Chairman Umar Ganduje in Abuja was unsuccessful, with the group eventually returning to Enugu after their efforts to meet Ganduje were thwarted.
An ex parte court order was obtained from an Enugu State High Court restraining Agballah and others from their positions, which was later challenged by the APC South East Zone and criticized for its lack of proper legal procedures and inclusion of relevant parties like INEC.
There are accusations that substantial funds are being used by unnamed sponsors to undermine Agballah and create internal discord within the APC in Enugu State.
Amidst allegations of political manipulation and a disputed court order, Hon. Mike Femi of the CSCT, has called on Ganduje to take necessary steps to resolved the Enugu APC internal crisis, ahead of the 2027 election.
