Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has appealed to Nigerians to refrain from pirating her newly released movie, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, revealing how a fan was caught recording at the cinema.
In a heartfelt message shared on her X page, the actress revealed that a moviegoer was recently caught recording the film during a screening.
According to Abraham, the individual deleted the recording after being confronted, and she chose to let them go without further action. She said:
However, the mother of one made it clear that she would no longer intervene if anyone is caught attempting to pirate her work in the future. She pleaded:
Fans and supporters have since taken to social media to express solidarity with the actress, urging others to respect intellectual property and support the industry by watching films legally in cinemas.
It is worth noting that Alakada: Bhad and Boujee is the latest release in Abraham’s popular Alakada series and has racked N134M in its first week.
According to Toyin, her previous year’s record showed N52 million in earnings after seven days, while this year’s movie has already grossed N134 million within the same timeframe, representing a 157.69% increase.
Toyin attributed her success to her God, expressing her gratitude for helping her achieve this feat and bragged that she is her own competition.
