“My children are my number 1 critique” – Bukky Wright opens up on struggles with depression

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has shared her personal experience with depression, highlighting the challenges she faced and how she overcame them.

In a recent conversation with media personality Teju Baby Face on his show, Bukky Wright spoke candidly about her struggles with depression.

She revealed that she had been prescribed medication to manage her depression, but it was the support of her children that ultimately helped her overcome it.

She expressed her gratitude for their involvement, stating that they had been her biggest critique and encouragement throughout her career.

The actress credited her children with urging her to adopt a more positive outlook and to prioritize her own well-being.

According to Bukky, her children advised her to stop stressing and take time to enjoy herself.

In her words:

“There was a time when I was depressed. Yes, I was taking depression antidepressants. But my children had to wean me out of it. They have always been my number one critique.

I don’t know if I could call my children my pillar of life and they know that I would love my life for them.

So, they tell me, hey, Iya, you have been loving your life for us; now it is time to live for you. Enjoy yourself and have fun…”

In an earlier interview, the actress revealed why she returned to Nollywood after many years of being away.

Bukky Wright explained that she had to leave the movie industry for the sake of her children.

Stating that she lives for them, the thespian said they needed her more at the time, so she chose them over her career.
