Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading private airline, has announced the suspension of all its domestic flight operations nationwide due to the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
The airline stated that the industrial action has made it impossible to access critical CNH (hazardous weather) reports required for safe flight operations, particularly landings. In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Air Peace emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority.
“Due to the ongoing NiMet strike and the unavailability of CNH (hazardous weather) reports required for safe landings, Air Peace has suspended all flight operations nationwide until the strike is over,” the statement read.
The airline expressed regret over the inconvenience and appealed for passengers’ understanding, assuring that updates would be provided as the situation evolves.
NiMet staff began the strike earlier this week to press for better working conditions and implementation of pending welfare demands. The agency provides vital meteorological data to the aviation, maritime, and agricultural sectors.
