Ayedaade LGA, Osun state – In a decisive win, Felicia Adeniran, a frontline chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emerged as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the Ayedaade local government area election.
Adeniran, who defeated other contenders to secure the party’s ticket, extended an olive branch to her opponents, promising an inclusive leadership style if elected.
Her landslide win solidifies her position as the ruling party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming local government polls.
Following her declaration as the winner, Adeniran expressed her gratitude to supporters and party leaders.
She urged them to maintain their momentum until the PDP achieves victory at the local polls.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) chairman, Hashim Abioye, said the local government elections will be held in February 2025.
In another report, the candidates of the ruling PDP in Delta state won all 25 local government chairmanship seats in the election conducted on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Jerry Agbaike, the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DELSIEC) chairman, disclosed this to the press on Sunday, July 14.
PDP candidates contested against other parties and emerged winners in the 24 local government areas where the elections were conducted. However, there were no elections in the Udu local government area, and the PDP chairmanship candidate, Vincent Oyibode, returned unopposed.
Similarly, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced Saturday, October 5, as the date for the local government elections.
The announcement came amid the ongoing local government succession crisis caused by the conflict between Governor Siminalayi Amaopusenibo Fubara and the Martins Amaewhule-led state lawmakers.
It would be recalled that Governor Fubara inaugurated caretaker committees to run the affairs of the local government areas while the ousted chairmen were still claiming their seats following the six-month tenure elongation granted them by the Amaewhule-led lawmakers.
